Radha Govinda Baruah is a name every Assamese feels proud of. He is lovingly known as the Architect of Modern Assam for his great contributions to the growth and progress of the state. Born in 1900, he worked all his life to improve education, journalism, sports, and society in Assam. | ||
One of his biggest achievements was founding The Assam Tribune newspaper in 1939. It became the voice of the people and is still one of the most respected newspapers in Northeast India. Through his writings and leadership, Radha Govinda Baruah helped spread awareness and encouraged people to stand up for their rights. He was also the first Mayor of Guwahati, and under his leadership, the city began to develop into a modern urban center. He believed in progress and wanted to make Guwahati a city that the whole country could be proud of. Radha Govinda Baruah was a great lover of sports. He played a big role in building the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati and bringing national-level sports events to Assam. He believed sports could unite and inspire the youth. He also worked hard to improve education and supported many schools and colleges in Assam. He believed that the future of the state depends on educated and responsible citizens. In conclusion, Radha Govinda Baruah was a true hero of Assam. His dream was to see Assam grow and shine, and he gave his entire life to that dream. Even today, his legacy lives on, and he continues to inspire young people to work hard for their society and their state.
