Natural Beauty and Things to Do
Surrounded by dense greenery, bamboo groves, moss-covered rocks and rugged boulders, Umsur Waterfall features several small cascading levels that flow into a natural pool. The short walk from the usual drop-off point takes around 15 minutes, although the trail can become muddy or slippery after rainfall. Visitors can enjoy nature photography, a light hike and the tranquil forest surroundings. The natural pool has some deep areas, so swimming requires considerable caution, particularly for children and non-swimmers.
Best Time to Visit
The monsoon season, generally from June to September, brings stronger water flow and lush vegetation. The post-monsoon months can also offer pleasant conditions for exploring, depending on recent rainfall. During the dry season, the waterfall may have considerably less water.
How to Reach Umsur Waterfall
From Guwahati, travel towards Mirza and the Chandubi area, then follow local directions towards Rajapara or Umsur village. The final approach involves a short walk along a natural trail. Private transport is generally convenient, as public transport directly to the waterfall may be limited.
Nearby Attractions and Travel Tips
Visitors can combine their trip with Chandubi Lake, Ramteng Waterfall or Jimirigaon Waterfall. Wear sturdy, non-slip footwear, carry drinking water and avoid entering the pool when water conditions are uncertain. Facilities near the waterfall are limited, so bring essential supplies and take all waste back with you.
