In Depth
Unlike a professionally managed golf club or luxury golf resort, Umrangso Golf Field is known for its natural surroundings and spacious grassy landscape. The open terrain provides an attractive setting for leisurely walks, casual outdoor recreation, picnics and landscape photography. The surrounding hills and changing light make the location particularly appealing during the early morning and evening hours.
The golf field is also associated with the annual Falcon Festival, an important local event celebrating the cultural heritage of Dima Hasao and the seasonal arrival of Amur falcons in the region. During festival periods, the area can become an interesting meeting point for visitors wishing to experience the cultural and natural character of Umrangso.
Umrangso Golf Field is located around 7 km from the main Umrangso town area and approximately 112 km from Haflong. By road, Guwahati is roughly 230-245 km away, depending on the route. Visitors can combine a visit to the golf field with nearby attractions such as Umrangso Lake, Kopili Dam, Panimur Waterfalls and Garampani Hot Springs.
The most comfortable period for visiting is generally from October to March, when the weather is more suitable for outdoor activities. The monsoon months can make the grassy ground muddy and roads slippery, although the surrounding landscape becomes especially lush and green after rainfall.
