The foundation work for the Kalakshetra began in 2009, with the vision of preserving Assamese heritage and promoting tourism in the district. Later, in April 2018, the site was further developed into a recreational cum amusement park with a cultural centre and auditorium, making it one of the most attractive destinations in Golaghat.

Historical and Cultural Significance

Sati Sadhoni was a courageous Chutia queen who ruled Sadiya and became a symbol of Assamese pride, self-respect, and resistance. When her kingdom was conquered by the Ahoms, she chose martyrdom over surrender, protecting her dignity and homeland. Her sacrifice occupies a revered place in Assamese history.

To honor her bravery, 21st April is observed every year as Sati Sadhoni Divas across Assam. On this day, cultural programs, commemorative events, and public gatherings are often organized at Birangana Sati Sadhoni Kalakshetra, celebrating indigenous contributions to Assamese culture.
