Hazarika, known for his simple yet powerful cinematic style, brought attention to children's issues through this pioneering work. Abuj Bedona remains a landmark in Assamese cinema, not just for its genre, but for its heartfelt portrayal of childhood in Assamese society.
The film was screened in cinemas during December, at the end of that year. It is the only feature film directed by Hazarika. The movie was produced by Bipul Barua under the banner of Mahabahu Cine Enterprises, with music composed by Dilip Sharma.
The film was showcased at the International Children's Film Festival held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Its Hindi-dubbed version was broadcast on Doordarshan’s national channel. While working on the film Nayanmoni, director Guna Sindhu Hazarika met with an accident and lost his eyesight. Despite this, he successfully directed Abuj Bedana with the help of others.
