Detailed Notes
Earlier, the park authorities had planned to close the park on May 25, 2026. However, due to a significant increase in tourist arrivals and requests from tourism stakeholders, including local hotels and resort associations, the tourism season was extended by four additional days. This decision allowed visitors more time to experience the famous wildlife safaris and natural beauty of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Elephant safari operations in Kaziranga concluded on April 30, 2026, as per the regular seasonal schedule. Jeep safaris and general tourist entry will continue until May 29, 2026. After the closure, forest officials will begin monsoon preparedness work and conservation activities to safeguard wildlife and maintain the park during the rainy season.
Known globally for its population of endangered one-horned rhinoceroses, Kaziranga remains one of the most visited wildlife destinations in Northeast India. The national park is expected to reopen for tourists around October or November 2026, depending on weather conditions and road accessibility after the monsoon season.
