In the Assam Assembly Election 2026, out of 722 candidates analysed, 285 candidates are crorepatis, which accounts for approximately 39 percent of the total. In comparison, during the 2021 Assembly Elections, 264 out of 941 candidates, or around 28 percent, had declared assets exceeding Rs 1 crore.
This increase of 11 percentage points indicates a growing presence of high-net-worth individuals in the electoral process.
