The Bhumiputras of Assam refer to the indigenous or native communities who are considered the original inhabitants of the region. This includes tribes such as the Bodos, Chutias, Mishings, Karbis, Dimasas, Rabhas, and several others. These communities have a rich cultural heritage and have played a significant role in shaping Assam identity and history. The term "Bhumiputra" literally means "sons of the soil."
