Dr. Nomal Chandra Borah was born on 15 August 1950 in Dubia village under the Gohpur region of present-day Biswanath district, Assam. He belonged to a humble farming family where financial resources were limited. His parents were not formally educated, and from an early age he experienced the hardships of rural life. As a child, he helped his family by farming, grazing cattle, and selling vegetables in local markets while continuing his education.
