Early Life
Arnab Goswami was born into an educated Assamese family in Guwahati, Assam. His father, Colonel Manoranjan Goswami, served in the Indian Army before entering public life, while his mother, Suprabha Gain-Goswami, is a respected author. Coming from a family that valued education, public service and literature, Arnab developed an early interest in current affairs and communication. His family background also includes political and literary personalities who contributed to Assam's public life.
Education
Due to his father's military career, Arnab studied at different schools across India. He completed his schooling at Mount St Mary's School in New Delhi and Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jabalpur. He later earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Hindu College, University of Delhi. Continuing his higher education abroad, he completed a Master's degree in Social Anthropology from St Antony's College, University of Oxford, where he studied as a Felix Scholar. In 2000, he also served as a Visiting Fellow at Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge.
Journalism Career
Arnab Goswami started his journalism career with The Telegraph before joining NDTV in the mid-1990s. At NDTV, he anchored several news programmes and became well known for his presentation skills. His work earned him national recognition and helped establish his reputation as a television journalist.
In 2006, he joined Times Now as Editor-in-Chief. During his decade-long tenure, he hosted the prime-time debate programme "The Newshour" and the interview series "Frankly Speaking with Arnab." His interviews with political leaders, diplomats and international personalities attracted millions of viewers and made him one of India's best-known television anchors.
After leaving Times Now in 2016, Arnab launched Republic TV in May 2017. As the founder of Republic Media Network, he expanded the organisation into television, digital journalism and multilingual news platforms. Under his leadership, Republic TV quickly became one of India's most-watched English news channels.

Arnab Goswami is recognised for introducing an aggressive debate-driven format to Indian television journalism.
